The Great Switch Off
The debate is on in Inverness with a council meeting on Thursday (6th March) on a proposal to reduce the number of street lights in the Highlands, out with towns and city centres.
The benefit of which would be a reduced Carbon Footprint for the Highlands, although the council assures everyone that the energy used is from Green Sources and the ability to see what we have to drive for miles to see ~ the night sky.
Namesakes opinion is that it does not go far enough, we would like to see the amount of lighting used with in the city and towns reduced to a minimum through light dimming and more focused use of lighting.
We need to be able to appreciate the night sky and the wonders it brings but also feel safe when we walk in the streets at night.
